Current Plot: Lying on a Border
« Thread Started on Dec 10, 2006, 2:32pm »

Night. The darkness covers over the land of Running Horse Creek. Latley, there have been more and more humans coming closer to the inhabitants of wild horses. More equines are being captured at the Creek.

A lone mare wanders about in the cover of darkness. The moon and stars barely gleam in the foggy sky. She has been here before, but now the appaloosa comes back more frequently. River Nymph remembers the second time she had ventured here. She had brought her first foal along, to teach him of the dangers. His small hoofprints were now a distant memory to the yellow sand. She had heard the sound of an approaching horse. Knowing that in these lands, the line between friend or foe was quite discrete, she retreated, ushering her colt along.

Eagle Feather, as the colt was called, followed his mother, staying close. His chocolaty brown coat was healthy smooth and seemed imune to the dust that flew about, sticking to any hide of a horse. They hurried off, racing toward their terra. Humans had never entered a horse territory, as if a force field kept them away. River Nymph crossed the border between the lands of Man and Horse. But this time, the human followed. River Nymph gasped and watched on in terror as the human tossed the rope, landing squarely upon the youngling's neck. Eagle Feather called to his mother, but she hesitated. Was being captured really worth this? She shook the thought from her head. How could she be so unloving? The mother hurried towards the horse who held the human and now, her colt too.

All was in vain though, for the stable horse was in a better condition than herself, and he sprinted away, hauling along her baby. She followed for miles, cantering behind, untill they had almost dissapeared over the horizon. Her sides heaved, and River Nymph stood in denial.

That was a while ago. But now, all was still. A week had passed since then, and River Nymph still ventured back here every day, as if expecting to see Eagle Feather appear before her. Alas, he was gone. Humans had crossed the border between the two lands. A new danger was now in place. With the border broken, humans now could wander in the lands of the wild horse.

For the humans, it was a great acomplishment. The wiser, stronger, and better horses were more likley to stray from the Creek. Now, with the ability to wander further into horse territory, they could capture those few, and create better and more improved lines.

But for the horse, it spelt trouble. With no border between human and horse, confrontations were inevitable. Could they avoid the oncoming industry and economic advaces? Or would the lands they knew be swarmed with buildings and man before they could run?

Can You Escape?
